Convenient evidence

Summary

A treasure trove of ridiculously convenient and incriminating information was supposedly left in Mohammed Atta's parked car at the airport, including: Atta's passport, driver's license, his last will, a copy of the Koran, flight simulation manuals for Boeing aircraft, and a note to other hijackers.

Analysis

Well, possibly he just wanted to look like a normal tourist on his way out of his home or something. But even so: flight simulation manuals in Arabic? What was he, studying how to fly on the way to the airport? Bring a passport but leave it behind? Leave the Koran behind? That all rings pretty phony to me. I'm tempted to say it's rather suspicious, but I'm giving it a conservative Somewhat here.

Bottom line, me, I give it:

somewhat suspicioussomewhat suspicious

Didn't he need his passport and/or license to get through airport security? I know everybody else does.

Good question! I don't think even non-citizens need a passport for a domestic flight, but you'd think the license might have come in handy. Fishy!

I thought they said his passport was the one that survived the crash unscaved! If that's the case, then how did he leave it in his car?You don't have to be the head cashier at Wal-Mart to know that it has to be one or the other;not both.Gnome Sane?!?

Hi Adam21482, welcome to Fishy 9/11 and thanks for your input. Indeed the story that it was Atta's passport found miraculously in the rubble did circulate for a while, but actually it turns out they were claiming it was Satam Al Suqami's passport. Somehow fluttered out of the giant fireball without so much as being lightly toasted.

I did a Google search to remind myself of the exact name, and I randomly just found that there was another "miracle ID" found. This one was at the Pentagon, found two days after the explosion, "the perfectly clean and unblemished California ID card of Suzanne Calley," who was a passenger on Flight 77. This was the flight that in the official position hit the Pentagon causing "a giant fireball on impact that not only destroyed the airplane, but actually vaporized the metal." But I digress...
